Is This Goodman Heat Pump Right For You?

When looking at heat pumps, one brand to consider is the Goodman Heat Pump. Goodman was founded in 1954 by Harold Goodman out of Houston Texas. He was a HVAC contractor and his goal was to build heating and air conditioning units that provide industry leading product warranties. He also wanted products that offer greater reliability and longer lasting performance and are designed for quick trouble free installation. The DSZC18 Goodman heat pump is residential unit that is high efficiency with heating and cooling. It has a lifetime limited warranty on the compressor, for as long as you own your home. The compressor is the two stage ultra tech Copeland Scroll compressor. The unit uses chlorine free R-410A refrigerant. You are ensured of quiet operation with the high density foam compressor cover, efficient  condenser fan motor and a wire fan discharge grille. It has a factory installed filter dryer, the coil cabinet is made of heavy gauge galvanized steel that has a louvered design, a quality paint finish that resists the weather and time effects and high and low pressure switches. The unit is certified in accordance with The Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration Institute and Electronic Testing Laboratories.

So, what does all that mean?  The chlorine free R-410A refrigerant is more environmentally friendly than the old R-22 refrigerant. The Clean Air Act requires the chlorine free R-410A be used in all models manufactured in North America starting in 2010. It is important to keep your running unit quiet inside and outside both. The engineering of the unit takes this into consideration and has designed it to be as quiet as possible. The two stage compressor allows the motor to run at lower speeds more often.
